Actress Zazie Beetz has revealed that the script for Joker was being rewritten while filming was happening. While there have been several actors to play the Clown Prince of Crime over the years, Joaquin Phoenix is playing the Joker for an R-rated origin story about the supervillain. Like Arthur, Gary is something of an underdog - which is why it makes sense that he could represent Joker’s first sidekick....
