The Cambridge Union Society announced that Jony Ive had won its Stephen Hawking Fellowship award earlier this year. As part of the accolade, Ive recently delivered a lecture at Cambridge University’s Union hall. Ive shared a variety of interesting ideas, but one in particular was the absurdity and importance of switching back and forth between a creative mindset and a problem solving perspective. Ive’s lecture is only the second to come from the Stephen Hawking Fellowship, with the inaugural speech being given by the late professor last year....

Although Marvel fans know the drill, it is still wise to stick around after the credits of Deadpool 2. Why is that? Because the Chief Creative Officer of Marvel, Joe Quesada, promises fans will see one of the best post-credits scenes in the history of movies. Multi-time WWE world champion turned blockbuster actor John Cena playfully says he’d be open to taking over the role of Captain America in the MCU. In a circumstance that amuses many wrestling fans, it was less than a decade ago that Cena’s WWE character was relentlessly slamming his opponent The Rock for ditching the company and going to Hollywood. Yet, at this point, Cena himself spends more time acting in films then he does competing inside a WWE ring....

The major movie festivals of the season are typically seen as launching pads for major awards and a certain kind of prestige that comic book adaptations and superhero titles don’t tend to strive for....

In a new interview with The Independent, Jony Ive describes the creation process of the new iPad Pro and shares more details about his design philosophies like what makes a device magical. The Independent’s David Phelan notes that Ive recently won the 2018 Professor Hawking Fellowship based on his “remarkable role in championing elegant and innovative design.” This of course is the latest in a long list of accolades he has garnered over his career at Apple....

Bono’s Product RED campaign to fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa has partnered with Apple for so long that you could easily mistake it as an Apple-created initiative, and this year the effort turns 10 years old with more than $350 million raised according to the Financial Times. In marking the decade-long effort to raise awareness and eliminate the virus/disease, FT highlighted Apple’s roots in the campaign: Apple’s design chief Jony Ive shared his take in the piece on how Product RED has had a humanitarian reach, challenging the idea of any corporate effect....

To go along with his complete redesign of iOS, Jony Ive’s official executive title at Apple has been flattened to drop the word “Industrial.” The change is notable as this new title plants Ive’s position as being where the buck stops for the design of all of Apple’s products… Ive’s former position as chief of hardware design was expanded to provide “leadership and direction” for Apple’s interface teams last fall in tandem with Scott Forstall leaving Apple....

Joker’s Joaquin Phoenix was arrested while protesting climate change in DC. Phoenix recently won a Golden Globe for his performance in Joker where he played Arthur Fleck, a man who adopts the Joker persona after a fair amount of trauma. The film was also nominated for Best Picture and Best Director at the 2020 Golden Globes but did not win. Still, Phoenix’s triumph at the Globes has lent even more momentum to his Oscar campaign....

Oscar-winning Silence of the Lambs director Jonathan Demme has passed away at age 73. Demme, who nabbed the Best Director Oscar for helming the chilling 1991 crime drama, launched his directorial career in 1974 with Caged Heat, under the auspices of legendary B-movie producer Roger Corman. In addition to Silence of the Lambs, Demme directed such acclaimed films as Philadelphia, Something Wild and Swing Shift. His last feature film was Ricki and the Flash in 2015....

Reality TV star and singer, Jessica Simpson has revealed that her mom suspected the ongoing sexual abuse but never brought it up in discussion. Jessica has decided to share very intimate details of her young life with her fans, following the release of her new memoir, Open Book. Simpson first burst on to the music scene as a Christian singer but soon found that her look was too mainstream and made it hard for record companies to want to sign as they felt she didn’t look wholesome enough....

The John Wick franchise is that rare series of films where each installment improves upon the next.
